Ch 19:1-10 God’s people are safe at home with Him, become one with Him.

Introduction When are you most grateful to be home? After having been through a difficult experience, in the cold or in a storm, or very tired. Imagine after the trials and tribulations of this world, especially the end times, to finally be safe in Heaven with Jesus, and to sit down to the most amazing dinner ever, and then to actually become one with Him.

Revelation 19:1-10

1 After these things I heard a loud voice of a great multitude in heaven, saying, “Alleluia! Salvation and glory and honor and power belong to the Lord our God! 2 For true and righteous are His judgments, because He has judged the great harlot who corrupted the earth with her fornication; and He has avenged on her the blood of His servants shed by her.” 3 Again they said, “Alleluia! Her smoke rises up forever and ever!” 4 And the twenty-four elders and the four living creatures fell down and worshiped God who sat on the throne, saying, “Amen! Alleluia!” 5 Then a voice came from the throne, saying, “Praise our God, all you His servants and those who fear Him, both small and great!”

6 And I heard, as it were, the voice of a great multitude, as the sound of many waters and as the sound of mighty thunderings, saying, “Alleluia! For the Lord God Omnipotent reigns! 7 Let us be glad and rejoice and give Him glory, for the marriage of the Lamb has come, and His wife has made herself ready.” 8 And to her it was granted to be arrayed in fine linen, clean and bright, for the fine linen is the righteous acts of the saints.

9 Then he said to me, “Write: ‘Blessed are those who are called to the marriage supper of the Lamb!’” And he said to me, “These are the true sayings of God.” 10 And I fell at his feet to worship him. But he said to me, “See that you do not do that! I am your fellow servant, and of your brethren who have the testimony of Jesus. Worship God! For the testimony of Jesus is the spirit of prophecy.”

1. God’s people are in Heaven v1

1 After these things I heard a loud voice of a great multitude in heaven, saying, “Alleluia! Salvation and glory and honor and power belong to the Lord our God!

I believe this is when we are caught up to meet Jesus in the air, before He returns to conquer the Earth, we have some time with Him in Heaven to celebrate, and actually become one with Him.

2. God’s people are grateful this age has ended

and the evil world system has ceased. v1-5

This world in this age is beautiful in many ways, many good things, but think of all unnecessary viiolence, the abuse, the pain and suffering of this age.

Ch 11 “The time to destroy those who destroyed the Earth.” Isaiah “They shall neither harm nor destroy in all my holy mountain, says the LORD.”

God’s people are grateful this age has ended and the evil world system has ceased.

3. God’s people are grateful that He has begun to reign v6

6 And I heard, as it were, the voice of a great multitude, as the sound of many waters and as the sound of mighty thunderings, saying, “Alleluia! For the Lord God Omnipotent reigns!”

Is He not reigning now? In a limited sense - where we allow Him, in our lives, institutions, nations. Many are in rebellion, many wrong things happen.

When He begins to reign, it will mean the elimination of evil and those who insist on practicing evil, a new Heaven and a new Earth. God’e people are grateful when He begins to reign.

4. God’s people are made one with Him v7-8

7 Let us be glad and rejoice and give Him glory, for the marriage of the Lamb has come, and His wife has made herself ready.” 8 And to her it was granted to be arrayed in fine linen, clean and bright, for the fine linen is the righteous acts of the saints.

This is the most amazing thing in the universe - that we would be drawn so close to Jesus that we would enter a new relationship with Him which is like marriage, and become one with Him. How is this possible?

Notice the progression:

a. We are created in His image

b. God became human - Jesus Christ, the God-man

c. Jesus, our Bridegroom pays the price for us to be redeemed.

d. God’s people receive His Spirit

e. God’s people are betrothed to Him

f. God’s people must be changed and prepared v7-8

7 Let us be glad and rejoice and give Him glory, for the marriage of the Lamb has come, and His wife has made herself ready.” 8 And to her it was granted to be arrayed in fine linen, clean and bright, for the fine linen is the righteous acts of the saints.

Imputed righteousness - what Christ has, He gives us

Imparted righteousness - righteous acts, good things we have done

We are changed and prepared.

g. At the Marriage Supper of the Lamb, we become one with Him

It’s mind blowing that Jesus would become one of us, and then we would become one with Him.

5. In this age, people are invited to become one with God v9

9 Then he said to me, “Write: ‘Blessed are those who are called to the marriage supper of the Lamb!’” And he said to me, “These are the true sayings of God.”

6. Even though we become one with Him,

He is still our Lord and God v10

10 And I fell at his feet to worship him. But he said to me, “See that you do not do that! I am your fellow servant, and of your brethren who have the testimony of Jesus. Worship God! For the testimony of Jesus is the spirit of prophecy.”

Conclusion So at this point, the old age and it’s evil system is over, we are safe at home with God, and we actually become one with Jesus. The ultimate safety and security.

Next, we go take our planet back.
